New Development of the Week: 17 East 12

New development is clearly alive and well in Manhattan at the moment, with a veritable slew of new condos hitting the market in the coming months; each one unique unto itself.

Here’s a look inside some of those I have previewed in recent weeks, along with some of their most distinctive features.

17 East 12th

In what once was a parking garage, you will now find eight full floor residences and one duplex penthouse.

I had the pleasure of speaking with developer Peter Armstrong, as we discussed my favorite floor plan: Residence 9:  A 3 Bedroom/3.5 Bathroom/3,143 Sq ft, full-floor residence with 1,241 Sq Ft of outdoor space between 2 terraces priced at 18MM.

Some of Peter’s favorite features include:

  • Kitchen cabinetry which electronically opens by touch
  • Nana folding glass walls between indoor and outdoor living spaces
  • Automatic parking system which whisks your car away to your private, deeded parking space (possibly the best perk of life in a former parking garage)
  • Generator which will keep it all functioning in case of…you know…nature.

I’m particularly fond of:

  • 11′ ceilings
  • Wood-burning fireplaces
  • Herringbone wood floors
  • Most of all–the location!

Architecture and interiors designed and curated by Bromley Caldari in collaboration with Richard Mishann.

“Classic design married with downtown chic”–I’d have to agree.
